Panties

While potty training was an absolute breeze with this girl, she struggles with some self-awareness issues--such as making sure her panties aren't showing.

Cubbies Awards Night

The girls have very mixed emotions about graduating from Cubbies. They kind of want to stay with Mrs. Rise forever.

All their Awana teachers. Grandma Birch is retiring after many many years.

May Celebrations

Celebration of Learning and Hodge Podge have become May traditions for these 3 girls. While we were cleaning up from Celebration of Learning, Lia and Gwendolyn graced everyone with their rendition of "American, the Beautiful."

The girls rotated with the first graders this year. Z and L are already taller than some first graders--and they have another year to wait before Kindergarten.
For some reason, "smile" means make a monkey face in Gwendolynese.

Gwendolyn, loved the idea of Hodge Podge, and talks like she fully participated in full force. Quite the opposite, as soon as she got wet, she was in Adriana's arms for the rest of the morning.

Hay Hay For Real

Lia got her very own real Hay Hay on May 18. She seems to like it and is doing a good job of taking care of it.

Sprinkler Suits

We've had a few impromptu sprinkler days, and a few where we took the time to put on swimming suits.

Mother's Day

The girls were very proud of their giant Mother's Day card they made this year. They also helped Daddy make a vertical garden planter.

6 Feet

These 6 little feet have a lot of fun playing together. They manage to make some sort of fun out of whatever or wherever they may be.

Determined

This girl has determination like no one. When she's in the right mood, she will sit and see a beading project through to the end. The other day, she was intent on getting all the way across the monkey bars. She's not yet strong enough (or more like brave enough) to cross the bars one arm at a time, so she scoots along the side.  She would absolutely not let us leave until she had made it all the way...and after about 20 attempts, she did.

Cinco de mayo

We visited the Cinco de Mayo Festival this year--parade and food. The girls have a pretty impressive grasp of Spanish and love their Mexican culture. In fact, Gwendolyn thinks she is Mexican and will get in quite the huffy little mood if she is told otherwise.

Crazy Conversations

These three bring lots of spunk to the world. They say stuff all the time that makes us wonder what on earth is going on in their heads. It's rare that a day passes that we aren't trying to keep a straight face after some off the wall or funny comment. We usually forget to write them down, but we've caught a couple.

Lia- Mama? Do you think we could buy a plastic dolphin and give it to someone...like who doesn't have a house?

Lia- Daddy, I love you like a circle. It just keeps going forever and never stops.

Gwendolyn- We frequently read a book called "Time for Bed." Daddy likes to mess up the rhymes and make the girls laugh and correct them:
It's time for bed little calf, little calf.
What happened today that made you HUNGRY?
So, the girls were taking turns "reading" the book very seriously and very well, and Gwendolyn gets her turn (and is using a lot of filler phrases when her little mouth can't keep up with her brain):
"It's time for bed little sheep little sheep,
Ehhhhh uh uh uh world is going to uh uh JOKE!" We all died laughing.

Zadie-  I love you 198. (Zadie has quantified her love with her pragmatic self, while Lia tends to spend life off in some other philosophical world that is all too real in her mind.)
