Lia and Her Duck

Lia likes to cuddle with soft things next to her face. We often find her clutching this duck at night. Zadie could care less about her stuffed animals.

How big's Lia?!

Sunday Stroll

Shades on, water ready.
I know I'm cute--you don't have to tell me.

Hey, take me seriously!

Raccoon Races

Yesterday we were chased by a raccoon. Daddy was mowing the lawn so Mom took us out for a walk around the little lake in our neighborhood. While we were just strolling along a little raccoon jumped between Mom's legs and into the storage area of the stroller just under our seats. Mom started going crazy, but we didn't really see a big problem with it. He was just riding along underneath us as Mom started running and hollering at it. When we  passed the house with all the barking dogs, he jumped out so Mom started going even faster. We thought it was kind of funny as the little guy chased us all the way home. Mom was not laughing.

Once we got home Mom ran us into the garage and shut the door just before the little critter caught up. He tried to squeeze in as the door shut, but Mom's hysteria must have kept him out. Meanwhile, Dad was mowing. We watched from inside as the raccoon chased Daddy around the backyard despite his waving broom. Eventually, he climbed up in a tree, we got our dinner, and animal control came to relocate him. It was a series of unfortunate events that a ended fortunately.

10 Months

Zadie and Lia are 10 months old now. They weigh approximately 21 lbs (Zadie) and 22 lbs (Lia). Our nicknames are ZZ, Zazzy, Z, Zaz, Zazzle, Zadie Bop, LiLi, LoLo, Lo, LoLi, Biggy, and Leelers.

Zadie is crawling on all fours. Lia has very little desire to take this move toward crawling. She would much prefer stand up, so she makes attempts to crawl, but stiffens her legs as if to stand which doesn't work so well. She then gets frustrated and screams. When Lia is happy she is very very happy and fun. But when Lia is mad, she lets the entire world know with a terrible scream. She has recently developed quite a separation anxiety though some of this may be attributed to being sick. It seems she wants Mom all the time when she doesn't feel well. Zadie is typically a charmer. She flirts with everyone, making cute little faces with a scrunched up nose. That said, she's a total wimp when she doesn't feel well. She whines and pouts if there is anything wrong--ie teeth.

Both girls started daycare when G-Ma left. True to their personalities, Zadie sat down and started playing immediately. She smiles and plays peekaboo with everyone, claps during chapel, and generally complies. Lia was carried out of chapel because she was screaming the first day. Since then she has done much better, but still clutches Daddy everyday he goes to drop them off.

The girls are a delight and bring attention everywhere we go.

Pecan Lodge

Dad says good food is worth a wait. We arrived at Pecan Lodge at 10:15. It opened at 11:00. We ate around 11:30. Some of those behind us never got to eat because they showed up too late.

Daddy's Return

Daddy had been in Pakistan for 4 weeks for work. We got to see him on FaceTime several times, but it was exciting to see him and hug him again when he came home. He was afraid we would forget him, but we smiled and hugged him lots when he got off the plane--even though we were sick. We missed him!

Return Flight

After just 3 1/2 weeks in Oregon we had to head back to the heat of Texas. Since Daddy was still in Pakistan, we flew home with Mom and G-Ma. Mom had paid an extra $13/seat for some nicer seats at the front of the plane on Spirit Airlines. It was a good thing because Zadie had an ear infection and I had an upset stomach. We did a good job flying, other than me pooping my pants twice during the flight.

We landed right on time but then had to sit on the runway for an hour while we waited for the other planes to leave our gate. Then when we went to get our bags the baggage claim carousels shut down due to lightning. Finally, around 1 am we got our bags and eventually made it home. G-Ma said that we were good sports.
